*gets kicked out of the window for the extremely lame joke*
Anyway, welcome to the new year ladies and gentlemen!
And a good way to start 2015 is by setting up your goals for the year, so here I'm gonna share my artistic goals:1 -> Develop skills with traditional media:
Seriously, I feel like I've underestimated the power of traditional media. Of course I started drawing with pencils and paper, but that was back when I was a kid and didn't have any idea of what professional drawing was like. I've just recently realized that I've never used coloured pencils before (at least not in the proper way) and the feeling was like: "Damn, what I've been doing during my whole life?". I really feel like I've missed something in the way by jumping straight-forward to working on the PC, and I plan to recover that missing piece.2 -> Learn anatomy properly:
I feel like my anatomy-drawing knowledge have improved considerably throughout last year, but it was still in a very slow pace. Also I'm too much used to drawing male characters, so I've got serious problems when drawing females,
they come out looking like transvestites
and I've found this out in the worst possible moment ever (when drawing the characters for my graduation project X_X). So it's about time I learned to draw girls properly. And now that I think of it, it's no wonder why I've suddenly stopped drawing Peach, Daisy or Rosalina: my art doesn't do them justice. TT_TT3 -> Experiment with backgrounds and landscapes:
I looked through my whole gallery here on DeviantArt yesterday and realized that if there are 10 drawings with backgrounds in it, it's already too much! It appears that 87,25% of my gallery are drawings with no backgrounds, and it bugs me. In addition to that, drawing landscapes is definitely not my strongest ability, so I plan to hone my skills on that too.4 -> Learn about light and materials:
This is another weakness in my drawings. I've always had the feeling that my colours weren't convincing enough, and I've just found out that the problem is with the material and light rendering. I've been trying to correct that recently too, but I've still got a lot to learn. Even so is very rewarding seeing that I've evolved from this:
or even this:
(which I'm proud enough to consider putting it on a potfolio)5 -> Pursue an original drawing style:
I don't know... I think that my drawing style is yet too generic. I'm yet to find my personal touch for it.
And that's it! What about you guys? Have any artistic goals for the year?
Hope everyone do well in this year! Best wishes to you all! Happy 2015!
